Q:  What is the cost of Option 3’s mobile laser service?

A: Our fees are capped at $1000 per session for unlimited use. Example: a 15
patient session will be invoiced at $1000 (18% of reimbursement @ $377.65 per eye, the national 2013 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule allowed amount.) Based on a typical appointment, we keep our pricing at or significantly below one-third of reimbursement. Some appointments involving very long driving distances or overnight expenses, may incur a $200 surcharge.

The more patients you schedule per session, the lower your per-patient cost. Because our progressive fee structure was designed to minimize your costs, a nine+ patient session is recommended. Under certain circumstances, we will schedule appointments with fewer than nine patients. Fees are broken down as follows: $125 each for patients 1-5, $100 each for patients 6-9. (There is a $0.00 charge for patients 10+.)

Q: How does this program work?

A: Very easily! On the day of your appointment, our technician will have the laser set up, calibrated and ready to go. Your responsibility is simply to schedule your patients in advance and file insurance claims, reimbursed under code 65855, at approximately $300 per eye, the 2007 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule national allowed amount.

Q: Do you require written contracts?

A: We do not require any contractual commitments whatsoever. While many of our customers do have us scheduled on a monthly or quarterly basis, all that’s needed is a phone call and an open appointment slot.

Q: I have 12 patients scheduled and two are no-shows or cancellations. Are we billed for these patients?

A: Absolutely not.

Q: When is payment due?

A: To keep overhead and your cost as low as possible, payment is due at time of service.

Q: Is there a maximum number of procedures that can be performed per appointment?

A: The only limiting factor is the number of procedures you feel you can comfortably perform in one session, typically 6 - 8 patients per hour.

Q: When are you available?

A:  For your convenience, we are available 24/7/365, weekdays and weekends, subject to the availability of an open appointment.

Q: How much advance notice do I need to schedule an appointment?

A: We are currently booked approximately 4 weeks out, giving you plenty of time to select & schedule patients. If you prefer, we can arrange for a fixed monthly or quarterly office visit.

Q: Which Slit Lamp(s) are compatible with the SLT laser?

A: Most Haag-Streit and Haag-Streit “copies.” Compatibility will be confirmed prior to appt.

Q: Do you provide us with any promotional and/or educational materials?

A: We will provide you with a supply of Lumenis patient brochures. We also have ad templates and examples, and we’ve composed a letter that can be copied and sent on your stationary to a targeted patient group explaining the benefits of SLT technology. Give us the patient names and stationary and we’ll even do the mailing and cover the postage for you.

Q: Who are you, why are you doing this, and why the SLT?

A: With almost 30 years experience in Ophthalmic sales and marketing, I have always found it personally gratifying to be involved with emerging, paradigm-shifting technologies that make a big difference in the quality of patient’s lives. I have had the good fortune to be involved with three such diagnostic technologies – the now-ubiquitous Humphrey® Field Analyzer, the OCTtm and most recently, the Optos® Panoramic200 scanning laser ophthalmoscope.  The excitement level among doctors and patients over SLT is so high that I was inspired to build a business around it.

As conscientious members of the ophthalmic community, a percentage of all revenue
will be donated to various ophthalmic charitable and service organizations.
